Reported by: Allison Morrison Monday, Aug 11, 2008 @04:26pm CDT Idalou isn't what it used to be, at least when it comes to economic development. "We see Lubbock moving out this way to Idalou and Idalou expanding and moving towards Lubbock, so we see great growth potential right here," Cosby says. Idalou is also home to a University Medical Center clinic. "If you think about, especially the elderly population, they don't want to go to Lubbock. Lubbock's getting bigger and to drive into Lubbock is a little more of an issue for them, so a lot of patients have realized we can actually service all their needs here," says Vickie Buxkemper, family nurse practioner at the clinic.
"They're putting in digital units into the clinics, so actually when I shoot an x-ray the capability will be that it will go straight to UMC and get read automatically which is huge," Vickie says. Vickie's been working at the clinic for eight years and she says the number of patients has doubled- at the very least. And as for Cosby, he believes there's one reason why Idalou is continuing to expand.
