Matt Laubhan - KLBK Chief Meteorologist
 Matt Laubhan is the Chief Meteorologist for KLBK and is West Texas's only Certified Broadcast Meteorologist. Originally from the small Kansas town of Russell, Matt graduated from the University of Kansas with a Bachelor of Science degree in Atmospheric Science. He graduated at the top of his class, and was awarded Departmental Honors for his study of severe weather.
In the summer of 2006, Matt became the first, and only meteorologist in all of West Texas to be awarded the prestigious Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (CBM) distinction from the American Meteorological Society. The AMS grants the CBM designation to broadcast meteorologists who meet established criteria for scientific competence and effective communication skills in their weather presentations.
Growing up in “Tornado Alley,” Matt understands how quickly weather can change on the plains. A self-proclaimed “Weather Nut,” Matt became a trained storm spotter when he was only 10 years old, and has tracked countless tornadoes from the field, including the June 12, 2005 Kent, Crosby, and Dickens County tornadoes.
While attending the University of Kansas, Matt worked as an on-air meteorologist for KUJH-TV and KJHK-FM and was an intern and assistant weather producer for KMBC-TV in Kansas City, MO.
Matt initially moved to the South Plains in June 2004 as the morning meteorologist for KAMC-TV, and has been the Chief Meteorolgist at KLBK
since June 2007. When he's not tracking storms in the Storm Track Center, Matt enjoys spending time with his wife Emily, playing tennis, working out, and harassing his cats Beamer and Slider.
