Family Life
A Lubbock native and fourth generation “Lubbockite,”
Todd is a graduate of Lubbock High and Texas Tech
University. He is a grant consultant and also works
with persons with AIDS and HIV as well as serves as
a First Aid and CPR trainer for the local Red Cross.
Todd is married to Manda Klein and they are the
proud parents of John Francis, who was born earlier
this year.
Community
Service
Todd is a progressive leader with a history of
public service. Todd has been involved with the
Humane Society of West Texas and was recently
elected President of the Board of Directors. He was
appointed to the Animal Services Advisory Committee
and has been an advocate for building a
state-of-the-art animal shelter. Todd's previous
commitments to Lubbock included: co-chairing the
Heart of Lubbock Neighborhood Association, serving
on the Empowerment Zone Steering Committee and
volunteering for the Lubbock Rape Crisis Center and
Contact Lubbock Hotline. Todd is also a former
Lubbock County Democratic Party Chair.
As a proud Red Raider, Todd is a member of the
Texas Tech Alumni Association and Chancellor’s Club
and the Red Raider Club. Avid fans, Todd and Manda
are season ticket holders for Red Raider football
and basketball games. Todd has been a strong
advocate for Texas Tech and has long sought the
expansion of student enrollment at Tech to at least
40,000 not only as a means of enhancing the Lubbock
campus to state designated Flagship status, but also
as a means of exponentially increasing the economic
growth and development in Lubbock. Todd envisions a
Lubbock where Tech graduates can find good paying
jobs and remain in Lubbock, and a city powered by a
strong 21st Century economy that lures people from
all across the state and beyond to locate in our
fine city.
Areas of Interest
In 2003 Todd completed the Marine Corp Marathon in
conjunction with the AIDS Marathon Training program
and raised more than $3,000 for AIDS research. In
addition, he cycled across the state of Iowa as part
of his training. For the past two years Todd has
participated in the Ride of Silence in honor of a
close friend and those who have been injured or
killed while cycling on public roadways. Todd and
Manda feel strongly about the Special Olympics, the
March of Dimes, the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer
Foundation and Public Radio (KOHM) and are regular
contributors to these causes. Todd also enjoys
painting when time allows, and much of his
inspiration has been religious icons. Todd has
displayed several of these paintings which were
shown locally last year.
