DELEONMEETING2008-07-21-1216700104.jpgMore than 200 people showed up Monday night at the Lubbock Garden and Arts Center to say they do not want the new Lubbock Animal Shelter in Clapp Park.

The location was suggested by Mayor Tom Martin as a cheaper location because of access to utilities.

Lead by council members Linda DeLeon and Floyd Price, citizens said they are concerned over destroying what they feel is one of Lubbock most attractive parks and possible problems with people dumping animals in front of the shelter.

Citizens signed petitions and are expected to speak out against the Clapp Park location at the next council meeting.
