A local family gets quite a scare when a snake pays them a visit.

Cate Bibb said she was putting her son to sleep when her dog started barking.

It didn't take her long to figure out what upset him-- a three foot long snake right above her door in a windowsill.

Bibb said she was immediately afraid and shocked the snake actually slithered up the side of her home.

Russell Martin with Texas Parks and Wildlife said the snake is no surprise to him.

He said the reptiles love the heat and West Texas has a lot of it.

If you see a snake, Martin said stay away.
