The cookies might like the heat but Lubbock certainly does not.

"It's excruciating hot out here."

"It's miserable it's breathtaking."

"It makes me sick."

"It's ridiculously hot you can feel the heat off of everything you just can't move without sweating at all." 

Temperatures in a car can get 30 degrees hotter than the outside temperature...

In less than an hour.

And if you're not careful, that heat can become dangerous for your health.

So UMC EMS Director Chris Teague said there are rules you've got to follow if you want to stay safe.

"It takes so little time for it to get hot on the inside of that care and especially with the windows rolled up.  There's no air movement.  There's no air blowing through there so even with the windows down you should never leave a human being or an animal inside the vehicle in these kinds of temperatures. "
