The heroes and legends that have made indelible marks on Red Raider Football will be permanently enshrined in the newly created Texas Tech Football Ring of Honor.

The Ring of Honor will consist of an elite group of players and coaches that made outstanding contributions to Red Raider Football.  Inductees will have their names permanently etched on the west stadium building facing the playing surface inside Jones AT&T Stadium.

"The Ring of Honor will be a tremendous addition to the legacy and heritage of Red Raider Football," said Director of Athletics Kirby Hocutt.  "The careers of those that we will celebrate in this Ring of Honor brought national recognition to this university and left an incredible mark on our football program.  Their names will become a permanent fixture inside Jones AT&T Stadium so that all who enter will be reminded of their outstanding contributions to Texas Tech University."

Candidates for the Ring of Honor will be chosen and screened by an anonymous selection committee.  Once the committee has determined a suitable candidate(s) for induction, the group will make a formal recommendation to the director of athletics.

"I am a firm believer in celebrating and remembering those who helped shape our program," said head football coach Tommy Tuberville.  "The men that will be inducted into this prestigious group left a mark on Texas Tech University that will forever guide this football program."

Texas Tech will unveil its first inductees into the Ring of Honor at on Thursday, July 5.  Official enshrinement ceremonies will begin with a community wide luncheon on Friday, Aug. 31 followed by an unveiling during Texas Tech's season opener against Northwestern State on Sept. 1.
