NEW YORK, New York: The first 5 round of the 2007 MLB first year player draft are in the books and no local players, including former Monterey pitcher Chad Bettis, were selected on the draft's first day.  Bettis thought he might be the Houston Astros' 3rd round pick, but instead of Bettis, the Astros drafted David Dietrich, a 3B from St. Ignatius High School in Cleveland, Ohio.  The Astros passed on Bettis again in the 4th and 5th rounds, so the big right-hander will have to wait one more day to hear his name called as day 2 of the draft commences tomorrow at 10:30 a.m.
