Three Red Raider legends are the first inductees into the newly established Texas Tech Football Ring of Honor.
Donny
Anderson, E.J. Holub and Dave Parks will be enshrined in the Texas Tech
Football Ring of Honor in ceremonies held during Texas Tech's season
opener against Northwestern
State on Sept. 1. The names and numbers of all three will be etched
onto the West Stadium Building (press box) facing the playing surface
inside Jones AT&T Stadium.
"These
three men made tremendous impacts on the Texas Tech Football program
and were unanimous choices to be the first inductees into the Ring of
Honor," said Kirby
Hocutt, Director of Athletics. "Their careers and accomplishments were
unprecedented at Texas Tech and induction into the Ring of Honor will
remind present and future generations of their impact on Red Raider
Football."
Anderson,
Holub and Parks are the only three players in the history of the
football program to have their jerseys retired and all three are members
of the College
Football Hall of Fame. Holub was Texas Tech's first inductee into the
College Football Hall of Fame in 1986 followed by Anderson in 1989.
Parks became Tech's third inductee into the hall in 2008.
"On
behalf of our team, former players and coaches, I would like to
congratulate Donny (Anderson), E.J. (Holub) and Dave (Parks) on their
induction into the Ring of
Honor," said Tommy Tuberville, Head Football Coach. "These three men
helped shape and define the Texas Tech Football program and their impact
is still felt today. When our players step onto the field at Jones
AT&T Stadium, I hope they will be inspired to
play as hard and with as much passion and courage as they did."
