Close friends of a murdered Lubbock doctor express their grief.

Lubbock police responded to Dr. Joseph Sonnier's home on the 4600 block of 21st street after a landscape worker noticed a window broken in the back.

Police say that is when they found the Covenant doctor shot to death.

This is the second murder in less than a week and officer's were still on the scene late Thursday night trying to solve it.

While they work, Dr. Joseph Sonnier's friends are left with nothing but questions.

"He was one of those guys you just immediately liked. Personable, well groomed, intelligent, easy going and easy to talk to," Dr. Sonnier's close friend Dr. Robert Salem said.

Dr. Salem pointed out the fact that this murder is especially hard for Dr. Sonnier's two children, because their mother was murdered the exact same way two years ago.

"The two sons now in particular have lost their mother and their father of who this tragic event and our sympathy and support goes out to them," Dr. Salem said.

Police have not released much information at this time.
