Councilman Jim Gerlt says you won't find him at the soon-to-be open "Bikini's Sports Bar and Grill."

"I'm sure there will be a lot of folks attracted to that restaurant, I won't be one of them," said Councilman Gerlt.

His reason: the dress code. Not for the patrons, but for the employees.

"I think the style of dress tends to lower the respect the men might have for the young women," said Gerlt.

Bikini tops, shorts, and cowboy boots make up the uniform of a "Bikini Babe."

We were unable to speak to the restaurant's management company, but Lubbock will be the chain's 13th location. Councilman Gerlt said it's a sign Lubbock is a growing city.

"But when you look at the number of churches you have in Lubbock and the number of organizations that we have, I think we're still a conservative town," said Councilman Gerlt.

Didn't know that the good Councilman had polled everyone in his district as to what "they" wanted. I thought the Councilman was supposed to represent all.....not just himself.
