Officials aren't releasing the man's name until they have been able to notify his family. But the Texas Department of Criminal Justice said he was brought to the Intermediate Sanction Facility, or ISF, in Brownfield on July 26th, after he a parole violation. ISF's are for offenders who have violated parole and are sentenced to a short term, from 60-180 days.

The man was found unresponsive in his cell on Monday. The Texas Department of Criminal Justice said they don't know how the man was injured. But he was taken to the Brownfield Medical Center where he was stabilized, before being transferred to UMC.

Both UMC and the Department of Criminal Justice have been unable to contact the man's family, so his name hasn't been released. It is also unknown what parole sentence he violated.
