The new school year is fast approaching and a volunteer shortage could put the brakes on Lubbocks "Meals on Wheels" program! With student and teacher volunteers heading back to school, the non-profit organization needs some big help. Volunteers make more than 500 meals everyday and deliver them to Lubbock residents who are home-bound, elderly, or disabled. But without enough volunteers, people cant get those hot meals! It only takes about an hour to deliver meals, and current volunteers say it will be the best hour of your week. "We just encourage the Lubbock community to step up to the plate," says volunteer Debbie Ernst. "Find an hour out of your busy schedule, just one hour is so important, and I know you can do it."
