Duron and his famous deer chili have been coming to the Hub City BBQ for nine years. This is the Hall brothers fifth year, and this time they're hoping to win.
"We did the brisket of course which was the main turn-in, and ribs, pork-ribs, and this is the other meat category. Mike did a bananas foster for the dessert category. He won first place in that last year," Craig and Mike Hall, owners of West Tech Electric.
Their quail wrapped in bacon looked so good, I had to try it. It was delicious, but they've got some pretty tough competition.
"Right now we got some brisket that is really good. We cooked 8 brisket this year and all 8 turned out really good, moist and juicy so we are hoping for a good first or second finish in brisket this year," said Newlee Hester, Project Manager at Carpet Tech.
Whether you come for the competition or just for fun, the Hub City BBQ Cook-Off is a great atmosphere.
"It feels real small town down here, and its kind of cool being in the middle of Lubbock and having that small town feel so its pretty neat," said lead singer of Jason Nutt and Highway 70.
