Participants will be coming from all over the nation to take part in the Panhandle Marathon.
The race will cover the downtown area as well as Texas Tech's campus.
It costs $80 to enter up until Saturday, but if you register the day of the race it's $90.
More than 1500 runners are expected to travel to Lubbock for the race.
Eddie McBride, President of the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce, said these types of events benefit our economy.

"Most of the time these folks are going to be coming in for overnights, so you get them into hotels.  You get them into buying dinners and lunches in the restaurants and so it makes everybody happy, and we need more economic, financial, flow throughout our community," McBride said.  "You know this is something new for us, and I think whatever we can do to bring people into town, show off Lubbock whether they be staying the night or coming in and buying stuff in town its a great opportunity."

You can register online until until 8 a.m. on Saturday.
After that you can register in person starting at 9 a.m.at the Civic Center.
Registration is also available the morning of the race.
