A Brownfield Family Says Police Used Excessive Force Against Their Teen

The family tells us the 17-year-old Brownfield Varsity football player was thrown against a fence and then tackled by officers after being kicked out of his little brother's football game.
"It was just unnecessary what happened," said Tyra Nolan.
Nolan said her teenage son Zehreus Williams was on the sidelines of the 7th grade Cub football game on Thursday night, something the varsity football players are encouraged to do.
But when Zehreus questioned the referee's call he was kicked off the sideline.
"He's like 'Throw the flag ref' and that's when the ref was like 'Get out of here,'" said Jaylon Nolan, Zehreus' younger brother who was playing that night.
Officers then told him he had to leave the stadium.
The teen's family said Zehreus said nothing to the police, but they said he was attacked by two officers anyway.
"Officer Flores came around and said 'Hey you need to leave' he was already leaving so he shoved him against the fence and from no where Officer Doris tackled him pretty hard and he's about 300 pounds and he tackled him pretty hard and he's pretty bruised up," said his mother.
Nolan said she didn't know what was going on until she saw all the videos people took of her 17-year-old son on the ground in handcuffs.
"There were a lot of people around yelling he never touched the officer he was already leaving that's unnecessary to use the kind of force they used with him."
She said one officer had his knee in her sons back and another was pressing his face in the ground.
"He wasn't the only one out there yelling at the refs but he was the only one that was told to leave," said his mother.
When I asked his brother Jaylon if he heard his big brother use any cuss words he shook his head no and said, "He just said throw the flag."
Zehreus was charged with assault, a Class B misdemeanor.
"Other people have walked up to me and asked me 'What happened?' and 'Why did they do that, it wasn't necessary, he didn't do anything,' said Zehreus' grandmother.
She said this isn't the first time she's heard of Brownfield police officers harassing people.
"This stuff has got to stop," she said, "He could have hurt my grandson and that's what I'm mainly concerned about."

Here'[censored] his rap sheet ladies and gents: 2011, got kicked [censored] basketball team by athletic director at the time Taylor (man of character) for cussing and mouthing to the refs and getting SEVERAL technicals during basketball season. Kicked [censored] bball team and kicked out of athletics. 2011-12, gets let [censored] IN athletics by new AD who lets him rack up several personal fouls this season already in football . I was at the game- he'[censored] a peice of [censored] THUG THUG THUG who is just mad he got put in his place by the cops. And Welps is an idiot for putting up with him. Letting a kid play after getting arrested? at minimum he was mouthing the refs and resisting arrest.. so lets playhim Friday .. what does that tell the other KIDS?!?!? Brownfield has a sorry bunch over there..

Why was it only family that was interviewed? because their the ones hwo turned the story in!! They get to call the shots that way. I say ask WELPS why he played that THUG friday night.. sports are supposed to be about honor and character and discipline- Tae has none of that and "you're either coaching it or allowing it to happen" so apparently neither does welps.

Tae Williams is a horrible person and a worse example for an athlete. I'm glad the cops got him- because his AD won't .. he got to play FRIDAY NIGHT after being ARRESTED thursday. What sorry coaches and sorry kids.

Oh Tae (Zehreus) Williams is at it again- this time he just actually got caught by the cops for his foul behavior. ( i had him in class, terrible kid, terrible student) Everyone in Brownfrield knows he'[censored] a thug, he just walks around the halls of school like he owns the place, fails everything he does or copies from someone else and the one time someone had the nerve to stand up to him, they call the news. Why were there no other "witnesses" besides family interviewed? Because this story is about a thug kid who got kicked [censored] his basketball team two years ago because the former AD Taylor had the character to NOT allow him to play after receiving MULTIPLE technical fouls. His mom and friends were mad then and their mad now. He even got kicked out of athletics but he got let [censored] when this new AD came.. gets multiple personal fouls in a season- he'[censored] a horrible excise for a varsity athlete. This is an exact representation of what is going on in Brownfield athletics. It is a shame to sit in the stands on Friday and watch how undisciplined these kids are. This kid in particular consistently gets technical fouls, and personal unsportsmanlike conduct penalties with no repurcussions. After cussing out refs during the Andrews game, Coach Welps allows him to play the next game. After he gets arrested for cussing out officials, and then pushing an Brownfield PD officer at the middle school game, this kid is allowed to play again the next day against Levelland. He then gets another unsportsmanlike conduct penalty for cussing out an official during that game. Sounds like the problem is the Athletic Director can't control his kids. What needs to happen??? Well, he'[censored] never had a winning season, the kids are out of control, and he has no structure over his program. No discipline in his athletics leads to failing scores in the classroom. The problem here is Coach Welps...nuff said!

Ok....First [censored]....Let'[censored] trace the roots of these problems...
1. This kid has been constantly in trouble. If I remember correctly...he is the one that led the district in Technical Fouls as a Sophomore.
2. He was kicked [censored] the football team last year for getting too many unsportsmanlike conduct penalties for cussing at the refs and fighting.
3. He received another unsportsman like conduct penalty two weeks ago against Andrews for cussing at the ref. Two plays later....Coach WELPS put him [censored] in the game with no consequences.
Coach Welps then sees this kid arrested for cussing at an official during the middle school game. The kid is asked to leave...and decides to cuss out the officials more. When this kid is escorted out by police, he decides to strike a police officer, hence getting taken to the ground and being handcuffed.
The best part....is the next day, Coach Welps allows this kid to play against Levelland. And would you know it, he gets another unsportsman like conduct penalty for cussing out an official in the 3rd Quarter. Ultimately, kids are going to be kids.....BUT Coach Welps needs to have a spine. He only reprimands the white kids, and doesn't reprimand the black kids, because they are ATHLETIC. This is prolly a reasib why he has a terrible losing record everywhere he has ever been. Sounds like Brownfield needs to get rid of the loser, and get a coach with a winning mentality.....Maybe a coach with a spine that is not scared of the kids....maybe a coach that sets a positive example to show how young men should behave. Maybe a coach that should have structure over his programs and his athletes....until Brownfield gets this coach, expect the same stuff to keep happening.....bottom line is....Brownfield athletics is a mirror image of what their leader is....a loser!!!!
