Lubbock's first ever music fest is set to play on as scheduled this weekend despite the threat of showers.

Workers spent Friday afternoon pulling blue tarps over speakers and other electronic equipment susceptible to the rain.

But even as they were being covered up, those speakers were still pumping out the sound of tonight's featured band doing their sound check.

Festival producer Don Caldwell said he expected everything to run smoothly.

"Its taken months to get it all together and it'd be a crying shame to lose it right at the point of getting it all together," Caldwell said.

As of late Friday afternoon, Caldwell didn't seem too panicked.

"Like it is right now-- a lot of mist and stuff-- won't be a problem at all," he said. "It'll be a lot of fun."
