Meredith Ledbetter pleads guilty to Capital Murder, gets Life Sentence

Updated: October 9, 2012
Meredith Ledbetter had already confessed to luring 49-year-old Joannie Deanne Parker into a vacant house near Idalou. That's where her husband, Casey Ledbetter, shot, killed her and stole $4,000 dollars from her.

Parker and her then 25-year-old son, Derek Ryan Hale, were found dead near the vacant house outside of Idalou in May of 2011.

According to the arrest warrants, Casey Ledbetter also confessed to beating and stabbing Hale. He claimed to kill him because he stole money from him and his wife.

Authorities believed the Ledbetters killed his mother, Parker, to cover-up his death.

Meredith Ledbetter's guilty plea earned her a life sentence in prison.
