Speaking from the scene, a police spokesman said the shooting appears to have been "targeted," but will not specify why. The suspect entered Hunan Wok around 3 p.m. and opened fire, hitting two people, police said. One victim died at the scene. The other is stable at a nearby hospital despite being shot "multiple times," police say.
It isn't clear whether the victims are customers or employees.
An employee who answered the phone shortly after dispatchers called for police said "someone walked into the restaurant and shot someone."
Police have not released a description of the suspect, other than to say he or she is on the loose. This is a developing story, we'll post more as we learn it.
