Security escorted the group of men out through the back exit, and into the back alley. Muray said that's when one man went to his car and returned with a handgun and proceeded to open fire on security standing outside.
"They were running from the person with a gun, and trying to get away, and came into this building," said Jason Robinson, the General Manager at the Library, a bar just down the street from Melt.
"Nothing happened here, they were just trying to get away from the gunman," said Robinson.
Muray was at his bar at the time. "We called the police, that's when one guy left, went to his car, and came back with a handgun, and opened fire on our security," said Muray.
Muray says a man who was asked to leave the bar early Thursday, returned with a gun and began shooting at security standing outside.
"People were still inside dancing, people inside didn't even know anything was going on, no one actually came into the club, you know, when the shots got fired," said Muray.
According to LPD, five people were shot, and all taken to area hospitals for treatment of non life threatening injuries. Two men who were shot were part of Melt security.
The men fled the scene during the shooting last night, and LPD has no suspects, but Melt will be giving LPD their security footage in hopes of aiding in finding the suspects.
Head of Security Rob Biggers says the shooting doesn't make him worry about his safety.
"It upsets me that there's people like that in our community, who would come and do things like that to fellow citizens, but in no way, form, or fashion am I fearful for my job, or fearful for my employees, this was a fluke incident," said Biggers.
Biggers says the men involved were not their usual customers. "They were looking for trouble, and if they couldn't find it, they were going to cause it, and they did," said Biggers.
TABC said they have opened an investigation into the incident, but Melt is able to stay open at this time.
