Could the drinking age be moved back to 18?

If many college Presidents across the country get their way- yes.

About 100 Presidents from some of the best-known universities have joined what's called the Amethyst Initiative.

The initiative began recruiting Presidents over a year ago to join together in changing the legal drinking age from 21 to 18.

Texas Tech Police Chief, Ronald Seacrist, says lowering the drinking age could have dangerous effects.

"I do think based on my experience, that you would probably see an increase in driving while intoxicated situations, I think that that will be something that would be an initial effect," Seacrist says.

Texas Tech President, Dr. Guy Bailey, is not one of the Presidents included in the Amethyst Initiative.
