The Texas Attorney General's Office is acting as special prosecutor in the investigation into Tumbleweed Care Center, where a 71-year-old resident was found dead after wandering outside in single-digit temperatures in February 2011.
An investigation report released in March 2011 found that staff at the nursing home failed to follow their own procedures designed to prevent residents with Alzheimer's from leaving the building.
As a result, the state launched a criminal investigation.
A representative for the AG's office told EverythingLubbock.com on Friday that the charges were dismissed for procedural reasons and that the investigation into Tumbleweed Care Center continues.
