A grand jury in Hockley County declined to press charges against Levelland Mayor Waymon Jackson.

The grand jury met all morning and into the afternoon Thursday as a special prosecutor presented evidence and called witnesses in the case against Jackson.

The charges stem from an incident in June where Jackson got into a confrontation with a city building inspector over plumbing work being done at a local church.

The city building inspector was wearing a camera that recorded the entire incident. The video shows Jackson yelling at the building inspector before he smacks the camera out of the inspector's hands.

Later in the video, Jackson is also seen shoving the building inspector.

The incident was investigated by the Texas Rangers and referred to a special prosecutor in Yoakum County.

The prosecutor spent months compiling today's case against Jackson.

The grand jury declined to indict the mayor on any of the charges presented Thursday but the special prosecutor could still choose to pursue misdemeanor charges.
