Thursday night we had some exciting
high school football featuring one of the top running backs in the nation in Jarek
Black for Shallowater.
Early on in the season this might
have been a matchup up of two of the best backs in the state, but with Robert Johnson's season cut short by a knee injury Black had the
spotlight all to himself in this one.
In the first quarter, guess who,
that's right, It's Black, Busting off the big run here and no one will bring
him down, as Shallowater took the early 6-0 lead.
A few plays later after a Matador
fumble, Everyone forgot about the big man Cameron Knight, as he went in for the
touchdown, Shallowater went up 14-0 very early.
But later Estacado would answer, as Jalen
Tennison on the quarterback keeper, He got Estacado a little closer at 17-6.
But then watch this, Jarek Black
busts off a big run, but he gets up a little slow, with an apparent wrist
injury.
He got it taped up and returned to the game to carry it 33 times for 261 yards, it didn't seem the injury was too serious though, as the Mustangs stayed perfect with a 30-18 victory.
