Lubbock Police are investigating the murder of a woman whose body was found in an oil field early Wednesday morning.
A worker in the oil field made the discovery.
Police were called out to the corner of Bradley and MLK, on Lubbock's northeast side, just after 9:00 AM.
When they arrived, they found the body of 29-year-old Monica Isabel Adams.
Police say they don't know how long her body was in the oil field, but they say it appears she has been there for a few days.
It took police about three hours to recover her body because the recent rain made it difficult for them to get to the scene.
Lt. Jon Caspell with the Lubbock Police Department says the investigation is ongoing.
"We believe that she's been here for an unknown number of days based on what we see so far she was probably left here around the time of the recent rainfall, whether it was during or before, we're not sure yet, but that's going to be part of the ongoing investigation.
Police say the recent rainfall tends to wash away important evidence, but that the case is not impossible to solve.
