Campaign Sign Vandalism Apparently Caught on Tape

"Our volunteer came out and actually staked out the place and the vandals came back to cut down the big signs. Our volunteer actually got that on video. And then the vandals attacked our volunteer and the volunteer called 911 and the police got out here," said Lubbock Democratic Party Chair Kenny Ketner.
And that prompted an investigation of a sign vandalized just days after racist messages were painted on signs at this same lot.
"It's really out of control this year when it comes to democratic signs," said Ketner.
The volunteer who staked out the vandals declined to talk on camera, but he said he wanted to prove democrats weren't vandalizing their own signs.
"I was accused on Monday by Lubbock Republican Chair Carl Tepper of vandalizing our own signs for political gain and that is absurd. It's ridiculous we would never do that. And I hope this incident, as unfortunate as it was this morning, will prove that that is not the case."
Carl Tepper said this still isn't proof.
"We don't know if these vandals
just vandalized some signs. We don't know if these were the same vandals that
vandalized the signs over the weekend. We're going to need the full police
report. We are looking forward to a full police investigation to find out how
much destruction this one group who was caught has done," said Carl
Tepper, Chair of the Lubbock County Republican Party.
Tepper said he thinks the election should be fought at the ballot box and not in the front yard.
He said, "We go out and vote and support the candidates we like. We put our signs out, but in the end it all comes down to the vote."
