LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech soccer program officially unveiled the Gerald Myers Indoor Soccer Facility Wednesday morning.
The 37,800 square foot soccer-specific training facility sits directly south of the playing field at the John Walker Soccer Complex, and will provide the Red Raiders a state-of-the-art climate-controlled training facility.
"The building of this facility shows the unparalleled commitment Texas Tech has for women's soccer," head soccer coach Tom Stone said. "It is a phenomenal facility for our team and continues to display the immense growth of our program."
The facility was completed in 165 days and was constructed over the existing Field Turf practice fields adjacent to the John Walker Soccer Complex. The building is both heated and cooled and is within walking distance of the player's lounge, locker rooms and coaches offices housed within the team field house.
The team field house at the John Walker Soccer Complex was completed prior to the 2009 season and remains one of the top facilities not only in the highly-competitive Big 12 Conference but the nation.
Texas Tech is in the midst its most successful season in school history after tying the school record for wins in a single season on Sunday.
The Red Raiders host Oklahoma State Friday at 7 p.m. in the regular season finale. The game has been selected as the NSCAA College Game of the Week and will be televised live nationally on FOX Soccer Channel.
