Four- that is the number of fatal accidents the city of Lubbock has so far this year.

Three-in the month of October.

"It's really not all there fault," Gray said.  "I mean motorcycles are a lot smaller than a car and it's hard to judge their speed."

Shannon Gray, with Damron Motorcycles, said drivers are not focused on bikers.

"We're so used to seeing other cars and what were looking for is other cars," Gray said. "Just keeping your mind to look out for that motorcycle."

It is not just fatalities that are the problem.

Lubbock had four accidents this week alone.

The lastest involved a collision between a biker and a family who was out trick-or-treating last night.

They were treated for minor injuries.

"Paying attention," Lively said. "That's 99 percent of it."

Paul Lively said he has been riding bikes for more than 15 years. He said he has wrecked before.

Lively said bikers have more to watch out for than the drivers in "cages."

"You have to watch for them as well as watch for everything your doing," Lively said.

Both Lively and Gray said the best thing all drivers can do is be aware.

Gray said there are additional resources for bikers.

"I would suggest the riders safety course," Gray said. "And if you've taken it, take the advanced course, you'll learn something."

Gray said if bikers and drivers will be more careful- the roads will be safer for everyone.

"Look twice, save a life," Gray said.
