Nothing could prepare the Snyder community for what happened this past Saturday, when a 52 year old Dale Rivera held his small child at knifepoint-before being shot and killed by Snyder police.
"The crime is going to be in any town unfortunately," Terri Myrick said. "The victims in the past week, two weeks, are pretty much family based and that is kind of sad."
The incident comes just one week after another father James Smith killed his 26 year old daughter and hospitalized his wife, after going on a shooting rampage inside the family's home.
'These are the people you love and trust and to have aggression towards them is never a good thing," Myrick said.
Terri Myrick owns the tattoo shop behind the house where the shooting occurred Saturday morning.
She said this kind of behavior is unusual for the small town.
"It's a wonderful town, a wonderful community," Myrick said. "It's very family based, it's very child oriented, there is always something to do for the public. It's just a real progressive town."
Myrick said she hopes that families in similar situations can find some help.
"Anonymous programs," Myrick said. "Because that's the thing in a small town is everybody knows everybody and nobody is going to speak out against anybody."
