Juvenile Escapes From Detention Center

By: Danielle Todesco
Updated: August 26, 2008

The search is on for an inmate who escaped from the Lubbock Juvenile Justice Center Tuesday morning.

Officials at the center say it was just after 10:15 A.M. when the detainees were being escorted to the classrooms on site.  Two of the juveniles bolted out of the line and made a dash for the nine foot tall barbwire fence.  Officers quickly nabbed one of the inmates...but the second one made it over the fence.

Now the sheriff's office and Lubbock police are aiding in the search.

Les Brown, L.C.J.J.C Dept. Head:
"We'll do an internal investigation on this thing to see that all of our procedures were being followed at the time of the incident.  I'm not going to jump the gun on anything, we'll just review it and see if there's anything we can do better and if there is something, we will."
