It was an exciting morning for Texas Tech football but a historic night for Tech soccer.
The Red Raiders making their first
ever appearance in the NCAA tournament as they host the Mean Green of North Texas
in the first round tonight and a lot of people not wanting to miss this one. A
packed house at the John Walker.
Early on Karla Pineda with the shot for the Mean Green, but Victoria Esson is there.
This one was physical, as Paige Strahan trying to make something happen, but gets upended.
The Red Raiders finding some chances, on the cross Dawn Ward gets a foot on it but Jackie Kerestine makes the save. Later it's Ward again Kerestine taking a risk and coming way out but the stray defender heads it out. Eventually Tech would capitalize in the second half as Dawn Ward took over, scoring the only two goals of the night.
Tech getting the "W", their first win in the NCAA tournament by a final of 2-0.
The girls will face Florida State in the second round next weekend.
