The Lubbock Meals on Wheels program delivers hot, nutritious meals to the elderly and disabled, giving them a meal and a bit of company when others can't help, but Meals on Wheels also has yearly fundraisers and holiday drives to raise money.

During the Easy as Pie drive people donated five dollars at United Supermarkets and got a coupon for a Sara Lee pie that can be used at any United Supermarket through December 31st, 2012.

All donations go directly to Meals on Wheels and Executive Director Lorrie Bellair said she has high hopes for how much money they can raise.

"This is one of our annual campaigns, Easy as Pie. And we are hoping to raise fifty-thousand dollars from this campaign. That's our goal. And so, we want people to come out and buy pies especially with the holiday right around the corner here."

The Easy as Pie drive runs through November 17th and you can make a your five dollar donation at any United Supermarkets cash register, the customer service desk, or with volunteers at the store.

You can also make a donation at the Meal on Wheels office at 2304 34th Street in Lubbock.
