Tommy Tuberville addressed the media for the second time about his outburst during Saturday's game against Kansas.

"After watching the film when I got home, it was obvious what people were upset about," Tuberville said Monday.

"It was obvious. I reached up and grabbed his headset and pulled on it. Heat of the battle, some things happen sometimes that you'd like to take back," he said.

During Saturday's game at Jones AT&T Stadium, Tuberville grabbed a Graduate Assistant's headset, forcing it, and his hat, to the ground.

The incident was caught live on television and it had some fans upset.

"I was disappointed because I expect a leader in our school, like Tommy Tuberville, even in times of crisis, when things aren't going (well), to keep your composure because people see that and it reflects upon Tech and it reflects upon its students," one fan told KAMC.

Others came to Tuberville's defense.

"I didn't think it was that big of a deal," another fan said.

"I've got kids of my own. I've got 100 kids on the sideline and coaches and I've got to hold myself to a higher regard than that and I usually do," Tuberville said.

But even with an apology for his actions, the head coach was adamant about what he said he didn't do.

"Some have reported that I slapped or hit, you're dead wrong. I did not do that," Tuberville said.

Comments

Tommy Tuberville is some one who is to be looked up to by others. He is supposed to be a role-model.He should be held accountable for his actions. His lies on Sunday were to cover his actions and it wasnt until he watched the tape that he came "clean". I dont think so. He knew what he did was wrong and thought he got away with it. I do not think that even " in the heat of battle" that this behavior is acceptable. maybe he should be treated like he was one of his players. had a player done the same they would be benched for a few games Im sure. This behavior is not acceptable from any sportsman, Player or Coach. And for him to publicly Lie about it then retract his lie for the truth doesnt fix the bad image he now has put upon Texas Tech as a whole. this was a nation wide event that has been on many other networks showing his " Bad Texas Behavior"
