The Lubbock high Westerners broke their 37 year
playoff drought Thursday night against Amarillo High.
They were trying to break their 38
game losing streak to the 15th ranked Sandies.
Lubbock High won the coin toss, But
went three and out on their first possession.
Then on Amarillo
high's second play of game, Josh Woods
made some nice cuts, got some blocks blocks and took it 47 yards to the house
making it 7-0 Amarillo.
After another Lubbock
punt, Amarillo had
a 4th and 2 at the Westerners 11, but The Westerner Defense held.
Then After a Lubbock Punt the Sandies
moved downfield to the 15, where Gabe Rodriguez found Ryan Sluder for the 14-0
Amarillo Lead.
On the next series, Lubbock had a 4th and 2 at their 33, and
failed to convert when they went for it.
Amarillo took over, and on first play of 2nd
quarter Rodriguez punched it in from one yard out.
So a rough night for the Westerners as their season comes to an end with a 57-14 loss to the Sandies.
