There are some very happy teachers and students in Shallowater today.

"We gave out a little over $48,000," Kuehler said. "The impact of this is going to be for every student, in every campus. Really the impact is going to be far reaching to every kid in the district."

Kyle Kuehler is a board member for the Education Foundation in Shallowater.

The group raises additional funds for the school district.

Today the group surprised 84 teachers and administrators with grants for their classrooms.

"We created the Education Foundation to come in and provide those funds do a big fundraiser to get the money and then we get to go around on a day like this and just hand the money out to the teachers," Kuehler said.

Kuehler said he knows just how much this money means to the teachers.

"I am a former teacher myself and there's just so often you have these ideas of things you want to do," Kuehler said. "There's just not the money to do that."

Teachers like Lori Satterwhite-who just need a little extra to do some big things.

"I received a grant for three ipad's for our English classrooms," Satterwhite said. "Because technology is just running away and we need to keep up with technology."

Satterwhite said the school is looking to improve on SAT and ACT scores and these ipad's can help do that.

"We could use the one ipad and project it up onto the screen and then all of our students can work together as a class," Satterwhite said.

She said the ipad's will allow students to learn in a way they are comfortable.

"It's teaching to them and allowing them to use their expertise and what they desire to use to learn," Satterwhite said.

The foundation is only in it's second year but Kuehler said they have big plans for the future.

"Our goal is to continue doing great things for the district," Kuehler said.  "To keep this getting bigger and bigger, to keep raising more money so we can hand out more  money to teachers, to impact the future here in Shallowater."
