Alaska Governor Sarah Palin is dealing with a barrage of questions after revealing her seventeen year-old daughter is pregnant. And here in Lubbock, we have one of the highest teen pregnancy rates in the country. Teen Parents of Lubbock is a non-profit organization making sure these mothers are seen as more than just a statistic. The organization is celebrating its one-year anniversary this month. Theyve grown from four to 40 mothers and continue to help teens raise children in a supportive environment. "Statistics show there is a higher chance of them not finishing school. Theres a higher chance of their children continuing the same trend and so we want to break those cycles and let them know there is a lot of hope still," says Teen Parents of Lubbock leader Renee Morales. Mothers meet every Tuesday night at 6:30 at their center on 34th and Boston. If youre a teen mom or just want to volunteer to help youre encouraged to drop by their office.
