1. Record High Temperatures Across U.S.
It's already been a historically warm December with record high temperatures set across parts of 21 states from Nebraska to New Jersey on Monday. Temperatures reached 83 degrees in Austin, Texas and Madison, Wisconsin hit a record breaking 64 degrees.
2. Lethal Levels of Carbon Monoxide Found in School
Potentially lethal levels of carbon monoxide at an elementary school in Atlanta landed at least 42 students and seven adults in the hospital on Monday. The school did not have a detector. According to school officials, there are no code requirements for this kind of equipment in K-12 schools.
3. Man Killed After Pushed In Front of Subway
Police are searching for a man witnesses say pushed another man in front of an oncoming subway train in Midtown Manhattan on Monday. The victim is believed to have been pushed onto the tracks after some sort of dispute.
4. 5.8 Quake Rocks Anchorage
A 5.8 magnitude earthquake rocked homes around Anchorage, Alaska on Monday. The quake is not expected to generate a tsunami but was felt through much of south-central Alaska, according to the Alaska and West Coast Tsunami Warning center.
5. Obama Considering Wintour For Ambassador: Report
President Obama is considering nominating Vogue Editor-In-Chief Anna Wintour to be his next ambassador to the United Kingdom or France, according to a report from Bloomberg. Wintour was one of President Obama's biggest fundraisers during his campaign.
