According to officers on scene, a 19 year old male was taken to University Medical Center in a private car.  Upon arrival, staff at UMC alerted LPD to a victim with a gunshot wound at the hospital.

According to police, the man said he was shot somewhere in the Rogers Park area in North Lubbock.  He could not tell officers exactly where he was shot.

The man told police that he was walking in an alley in Rogers Park when he was approached by a group of juveniles. Police said the group asked the victim for a cigarette, and then pulled a gun on him, asking the victim if he would like to buy the gun.

The victim was then shot, according to police.  He had gunshot wounds in his hand and leg, and according to officers, he had powder burns on his hands, meaning he was probably shot in close contact.

The officers then began searching the Rogers Park neighborhood for any evidence.  According to police, the victim was at Auburn and Gary when he was picked up by his mother to be taken to the hospital.

Police have not released the man's condition or any other information.  They also tell KLBK News, the victim was only able to give a vague description of the suspects.
