LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech was represented by three Red Raiders on the Top Drawer Soccer Big 12 Top-20 team as announced by the national publication Wednesday.
Texas Tech sophomore defender Jaelene Hinkle, senior defender Morgan Johnson and sophomore midfielder Paige Strahan were each named to the team which recognizes the top players in the Big 12 Conference.
Hinkle and Strahan were each named to the NSCAA All-Central Region Tuesday while all three were named to the All-Big 12 First Team earlier this year.
Texas Tech freshman forward Janine Beckie was named to the Top Drawer Soccer Freshman Team of the Year earlier this year.
Hinkle, a Denver Colo., native and two-time NSCAA All-Central Region selection, completed her sophomore campaign in 2012 leading the Red Raiders with five assists while starting all 23 games.
Johnson, an anchor to the Texas Tech defense which posted 10 shutouts in 2012, netted her first two career goals this year while starting all 23 games. Johnson also tallied four assists.
Strahan ended the 2012 season as the second-leading scorer on the Red Raider squad with eight goals - five of which were game-winners. The Midland, Texas native strung together a five-match scoring streak in Sept., the longest scoring streak by a Red Raider since the 2009 season.
Texas Tech advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament this year and won a school record 16 matches while going 9-1 at the John Walker Soccer Complex. The Red Raiders finished third in the Big 12 this season - a program best.
