Folks in Slaton are complaining that its too hard to adopt from their animal shelter, and the shelter is euthanizing just too many dogs. Its run by one animal control officer, and is locked up when that officer is called out to other assignments. Now Becky Bixler, a Slaton woman who adopts the dogs and then finds other homes for them, isnt allowed to adopt any more animals. "The doggies dont have any voices. Nobody can speak for them. Theyre forgotten about, and most people dont stop to think. We are so busy with our lives we dont know whats going on," says Bixler. The new rule for the shelter is that youre only allowed to take out a dog if you plan on being the sole owner.
