School safety is a major concern for many parents, but LISD is working to keep kids well-protected. District Police tell us that every campus has some level of security, with the newer schools using more advanced safety technology. Several campuses have keyless entry systems and security cameras that are monitored by both school staff and campus police. Also, the new all-girls school has a security system that scans the licenses of every visitor, checking for registered sex offenders. Director of LISD Police Tom Nichols says, "Theres almost no limit to what we will do to assure to moms and dads, grandparents, guardians, and the kids themselves, that were doing everything we can to make that building safe for them, inside and out."
