When the news broke of Coach Tommy Tuberville resigning from Tech and moving on to be a Bearcat many of Tech's loyal fans where sitting at the library studying for finals.

Many of them say they didn't even know, some say they're happy about it, but others say it's like a slap in the face

Around this time last month Texas Tech's, now former head football coach was the talk around town after hitting an assistant coach on the sidelines during the last home game.

Tuberville has the town talking again, but now he's headed out the door and the Tech students we talked to say they feel blindsided.

"He just ups and leaves us and no one was expecting it," said Clayton Bandy, "Now who's going to be the new coach, that's my question."

Bandy said he was ready for next years season and was excited about the work Tuberville was doing with the Raiders.

"I know it wasn't the best, but it was definitely better than last season I thought things were picking up," he said.

Most students on campus said their heads were in the books until they heard of Tuberville headed to the Big East to become a Bearcat.

"We need to find a coach that will come in and be more permanent," said student, Kolby Rogers, "To be honest I think they rushed into Coach Tuberville in the first place."

"It's annoying that we have to deal with this to begin with," said Bandy.

"It's pretty upsetting because we had a pretty good season," said Ryan Woulfe.

Tech fans agree saying its time to focus on Minnesota

"I think focus on the bowl game first you can't really do much.  You have to look at you have another game in a couple weeks so try to win that then see what you can do.

Out -now its a game of just waiting to see who will be named the next head coach for tech but all fans here on campus say either way they'll be supporting their school.
