"And its just exploded from there. It grew and grew and its gotten better all the time."
David Baker and his wife Lavell have been working with Dollar General for 4 years gathering Toys for Tots.
"So the first year we had 7 or 8 stores and the district manager got news of it and he got all of it up to Tennessee and somewhere up in Canada and we went from there...the next year we had 2 more stores and this year we had 19 stores to collect from so it has just been a booming business for us."

Dollar General lets the Bakers place a gift wrapped barrel in their stores where people can drop in toys. At the end of the week they pick them up and bring them to Toys for Tots to be sorted for Lubbock children.
"Toys for Tots, when you deliver these toys to the Marines, it stays local. So we know that people within the area, these small children are going to have a little bit better Christmas. If it wasn't for this they might not have a Christmas at all, and every kid deserves that."
The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation
(TDLR) recommends all Texans take a few minutes to safeguard their families by
eliminating any electrical hazards.
The Bakers have stopped giving Christmas gifts to each other and instead use the money they would have spent to buy toys.
"Now Lavell and I, we don't exchange gifts, except through this way. We're giving to each other this way, is by helping somebody else."
