Happy Birthday Buddy Holly!

Folks in Lubbock are honoring and remembering a hometown rock n roll pioneer. Buddy Holly would be 72 this weekend. And Saturday, families were invited to make poodle skirts and hot rods and re-live the 1950s at the Buddy Holly Center. Mothers and daughters started from scratch and sewed and glued their way to authentic 50s attire. Dads and sons added their own flare to mini hot rods. Today was a chance for the Buddy Holly Center to teach families in the Hub City more about Lubbocks famous native son. "Buddy Holly was really important to the beginning of rock n roll and the music industry and you can still see a lot of his influences today and so this is an annual event that we have to commemorate Buddy Holly and the legacy he has left," says Buddy Holly Centers Lisa Howe. Theres more to celebrate Sunday too. The Buddy Holly Center will serve birthday cake at 3:30 followed by a guided tour of the center with rock n roll historian Bill Griggs.
