911 Calls Released From Wednesday's Deadly Pileup

Lubbock County dispatchers released the 911 calls made during Wednesday's deadly pileup on I-27.

More than a dozen people called emergency operators to report the crash or get help during the crash-- which was prompted by high winds and a massive dust storm that created nearly zero-visibility conditions.

Wednesday's crash killed on man, 63-year-old Leslie Carrier of Fort Collins, Colorado and left others fearing for their lives.

"I was in a wreck over here by New Deal," one mom said frantically. "They said they were gonna come out here but I don't know if my son has a concussion or not."

During the call between that woman and dispatchers, you could hear her three-year-old son crying in her arms.

One EMS dispatcher told a caller the fastest way to find help would be to just grab the first police officer she saw.

"If you can find an officer-- if you can see one-- you may stop them and tell them because out there right now is mass chaos," the dispatcher said.
