Nearly 90 teams are on their way to Lubbock for the 54th Annual Fibermax Caprock Classic which kicks off Thursday.
It is the largest high school basketball tournament in the country and with 86 teams coming to the Hub City the economic boost is impressive. Tournament officials say they performed an independent study that revealed the 2011 tournament had an impact of over $2.5 million.
However the Caprock Classic isn't just about hoops or an economic surge. The money raised goes to help several different non-profit organizations. One of those includes providing support for children with disabilities.
