Flood Damaged Cars

Many folks are now facing serious mechanical problems on their vehicles from all the flooding. Some tow truck companies are almost 7 hours behind trying to gather up all the cars, and local businesses -- already seeing to the damage.
Prock automotive opened it's doors at , and already had cars coming in for some work due to flood damage.
Owner Joel Prock says the most common type of damage is water ingested into the engine itself, prohibiting your car from starting.
Even worse, if water gets in the motor, it could rust.
Repair costs range anywhere from $200 to thousands if you end up having to replace your engine.
One major telltale sign is the smell of mildew, but Prock also says if any water came up over your hood, don't start the car. Just bring it in as soon as possible.
Also -- check your insurance before you get repairs. Lots of times flood damage is covered and could save you a lot of money.
The most important thing to remember here though is don't wait for the damage to get worse.
Joel Prock, Prock Automotive: "Most of the damage will be seen immediately, especially engine wise. If you actually get water on the interior, and it actually fills the interior, some of that damage comes slowly."
If you suspect your car has any damage, don't wait to bring it in.
You should have it checked out before you drive on it and cause any unnecessary harm.
