One In Police Custody After Car Chase Through Central Lubbock

A car chase through Central Lubbock left one person with minor injuries and another arrested.
This is the second high speed car chase through the same area this week. Police say the car was reported stolen around 7 a.m. The owner had left the vehicle running to warm up while getting ready for work.

Police located the vehicle later Wednesday morning and the chase started around 9:50 when the suspect refused to stop and broke numerous traffic laws.
He took police on a chase west on 50th Street near Utica, before turning north and then heading east on 48th Street.
The driver of the stolen vehicle hit another car, before crashing near 48th & Knoxville. The stolen vehicle then caught on fire.
We're told the driver then got out of the car and ran into a nearby apartment complex.
Police were able to catch him and took him into custody. The suspect is a 22-year old white male. He is facing charges of evading arrest, possession of a stolen vehicle, and possession of a controlled substance.
