Two of the top teams in the state - not just on the South Plains - butted heads Tuesday night when No. 2 Lubbock Cooper hosted No. 4 Shallowater.

The Lady Pirates jumped out to an early lead in the second when Bridget Rampy hit a tough turnaround to give them a 24-10 lead. Cooper closed the first half on a 21-6 run to lead 30-12 at the break.

The Fillies came out firing in the third when Rebekah Jones grabbed an offensive board and put it back up and in to give them some momentum.

In the fourth, Shallowater pulled within six when Sharon Harkey hit a three-pointer from the top of the key to make it 39-33 Lady Pirates.

Bridget Rampy answered, putting the finishing touches on her brilliant performance with a fade away inside to put the Lady Pirates up 41-33, as they held on to win it, 44-36.
