Police Chase Ends With Gunman Running into Lubbock Restaurant

Several twist and turns in a trooper pursuit.

After crashing at the intersection of 82^nd and Quaker, the suspect 26-year-old David Barraza took off running into the Cattle Baron restaurant.

A dangerous turn of events, that caught the people we talking to by storm.

"When he ran by us, we seen a hand gun, so I just kind of stood back," said eyewitness Hector Ramirez.

Ramirez was one of the several eyewitnesses who saw 26-year-old David Barraza send DPS troopers on a chase.

That chase went into the Cattle Baron restaurant, where Paul Pena was inside.

"As we looked through the doorway where the employees come in, he came through there and ran past the bar and ran into the other part of the restaurant," said Pena.

DPS troopers said they were trying to pull Barraza's car over when two of the three people jumped out by Cooper ISD, causing the school to be put on lock down.

Barraza continued into Lubbock, but the chase didn't end there.

"As soon as we turned around the cops came with their guns out and told us to get out," said Pena.

Witnesses said they saw Barraza go into the Cattle Baron restroom where DPS troopers later found his hat and jacket.

"He walks out the side of the door throws his gun underneath my truck and good thing that two State Troopers were walking in and started fighting with him," said Ramirez.

They wrestled around with him for about 5 minutes, cuffed him, walked him passed and put him in the car," said Pena.

DPS says Barraza is in the Lubbock County Jail where he is facing charges of evading and resisting arrest, along with felony of an armed weapon.
